Biography

Dr. Borden’s expertise lies in the treatment of various musculoskeletal disorders and injuries with an emphasis on the shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle.

Dr. Borden specializes in the treatment of sports medicine and injuries to ligaments, cartilage, tendons, and muscles to patients of all ages. His surgical expertise lies in the field of arthroscopy and treatment of shoulder, knee, and ankle injuries. Currently he serves as consultant, researcher, and inventor to orthopedic device companies in development of the latest surgical technologies and surgical procedures. Dr Borden was a former competitive athlete in high school and college (basketball, baseball, water polo). In his spare time he enjoys fly fishing, golf, skiing, and exercise.

Medical Education

Dr. Borden attended high school in Palos Verdes, California at Chadwick High School. He graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1989. He attended and completed his medical school training at the George Washington University Medical School in Washington, D.C. from 1991-1995.

Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency were completed at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California from 1995-2000. He completed a one year Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Kentucky from 2000-2001.

Educational Contributions

Dr. Borden is recognized throughout the country for his knowledge and surgical expertise in the field of arthroscopic shoulder and knee reconstruction. His experience has included numerous lectures, surgical laboratories, and peer reviewed publications on various topics including rotator cuff and labral injuries of the shoulder and ACL, PCL, cartilage, and meniscal injuries of the knee.

Dr. Borden has served as an instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) and teaches orthopedic surgeons from around the world the latest techniques in arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery. Dr. Borden is involved in consulting for companies interested in developing the newest cutting edge surgical implants, instruments, and bracing in the field of sports medicine.

His production of recent peer reviewed sports medicine journals and books include topics of: articular cartilage injuries in the knee, meniscal repairs, knee dislocations, posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and medial collateral ligament reconstruction in the knee.

Dr. Borden has been involved in television interviews and newspaper articles to include the following topics: rotator cuff tears, shoulder bursitis, meniscal tears, snowboarding injuries, backyard football injuries.

Medical Community Contributions

Dr. Borden has served as a volunteer faculty member at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for the purpose of teaching residents the latest concepts and surgical techniques in the field of sports medicine. Dr. Borden has also served as the Team Physician at Chadwick High School since 2001.
